Terms

Terms of Use

The short version: be 13 or older (under 18 with a parent's OK), keep it friendly and about FTC, never share students' personal contact details, and report anything that isn't right.

Last updated 31 October 2026

1Who runs this site

FTCnetwork is run by the Wizards FTC team (#18422) and its founder. It's a free, community-built site for FIRST Tech Challenge teams. It is not run by, affiliated with or endorsed by FIRST.

Questions, safety concerns or requests about your account: ftcnetwork.official@gmail.com.

2Who can use it

  • You must be 13 or older to create an account.
  • If you're under 18, ask a parent or guardian first and only sign up with their OK. We also recommend telling your coach or mentor.
  • One account per person. Use your real name or the name your team knows you by, and an email you can access.
  • Only create a team for a real FTC team you belong to, and only use a team number that is yours.

By creating an account you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.

3Your account

  • Keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what happens with your account.
  • If you think someone else got into your account, reset your password and tell us at ftcnetwork.official@gmail.com.
  • A team has one owner, who approves who joins. Owners: only approve people you know are on your team.

4Team profiles and what you post

Team profiles, posts and the map are public: anyone can see them, including people who aren't signed in and search engines. Write them as if your whole region is reading.

  • You keep ownership of what you post. You let us show it on FTCnetwork so the site can work.
  • Only post logos, photos and text you have the right to use. Don't post photos of people who haven't agreed to it.
  • You can edit or delete your team's posts and profile at any time.

5Acceptable use

Keep it friendly and about FTC. These are not allowed anywhere on the site, including in messages:

  • Harassment and bullying: insults, threats, hate, or targeting someone because of who they are.
  • Sharing personal contact details of students: no phone numbers, home addresses, school timetables or personal social accounts of anyone under 18 in public places (profiles, posts). Use your team's official channels.
  • Spam: ads, scams, chain messages, or sending the same message to lots of teams.
  • Impersonation: pretending to be another person, team, sponsor or FIRST.
  • Sexual, violent or illegal content, or anything not suitable for students.
  • Trying to break into accounts, get around blocks or suspensions, scrape the site, or overload it.

Meeting another team online? Keep an adult (coach, mentor or parent) in the loop, and don't ask students to move to private, unsupervised chats.

6Messages and meetings

  • Messages and meeting requests are sent from one team to another. Every member of both teams can read them.
  • The admin panel can't open private conversations. When a message is reported, admins see a copy of that one message.
  • Block a team from its profile or the conversation. Blocked teams can't message you or book meetings with you, and you can unblock them any time in Team settings.

7Reports and moderation

Use Report on a post, a message or a team profile when something breaks these rules. Pick a reason and add a short note if it helps. The reported team isn't told who reported them.

Our site admins review reports. Depending on what happened, they may:

  • remove a post,
  • suspend a team (it disappears from the directory, map and feed and can't post, message or book), or
  • suspend an account (it can't sign in).

We can act without warning when someone's safety is at risk. If you think we got it wrong, email ftcnetwork.official@gmail.com and we'll look again. If anyone is in danger, contact a parent, coach or your local emergency services first.

8Team numbers and verification

We check team numbers against the official FTC Events API. A "Verified" badge means the number exists and matches, not that we checked who runs the profile. If someone has claimed your team's number, email ftcnetwork.official@gmail.com.

9Leaving, and when we close accounts

  • You can ask us to delete your account at any time (see how to delete your account).
  • We may suspend or remove accounts and teams that break these terms or put others at risk.

10The service

FTCnetwork is free and run by volunteers. We work to keep it safe and running, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of mistakes, and we may change or stop features. Information on team profiles is written by the teams themselves, so check anything important before you rely on it.

11Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site grows. The date at the top always shows the latest version. For important changes we'll show a notice on the site before they apply. If you keep using FTCnetwork after that, the new terms apply to you.

12Contact

Email ftcnetwork.official@gmail.com for anything about these terms, your account or a safety concern.
