Privacy Policy

The short version: team profiles and posts are public, messages stay between the two teams, the map shows teams (never people), and we never sell your data. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.

1Who we are

FTCnetwork is run by the Wizards FTC team (#18422) and its founder. We decide how the information on this site is used. Contact us at ftcnetwork.official@gmail.com.

2What we collect

  • Your account: your name, email address and password. Passwords are stored only as a secure hash, so nobody (us included) can read them.
  • Your team: team number and name, logo, bio, city, region, country, time zone, roster lines, achievements, links and season status, all as your team enters them.
  • The team's approximate map location: a pin your team places, usually the city or the area of your school or workshop. It marks the team, never a person, and we never ask for your device's location.
  • What your team shares: posts and photos, messages and meeting requests to other teams, and join requests.
  • Reports you send: the reason, your note and a copy of the reported text.
  • Security data: a sign-in cookie, the IP address and browser of each sign-in session, and short-lived counters that stop people from spamming or guessing passwords.

3Why we use it

  • To run the site: show team profiles, the directory, the map and the feed, and deliver messages and meeting requests.
  • To send the emails you need: password reset links, join requests and approvals. No newsletters or marketing.
  • To check team numbers with the official FTC Events API (we send only the team number).
  • To keep people safe: review reports, stop spam and abuse, and keep accounts secure.

4Who sees what

Who can see which information
WhoWhat they can see
Anyone, including search enginesTeam profiles (name, number, logo, bio, city and country, roster lines, achievements, links), team posts and the team's pin on the map.
Your teammatesYour name and email, your team's messages and meetings, and the name and email of anyone asking to join.
The other team in a conversationThe messages and meeting requests between your two teams, with the name of the member who sent each one.
Site adminsAccount emails (only admins given that permission), reports with a copy of the reported text, and the admin action log. The admin panel can't open private conversations.

5We don't sell your data

We don't sell, rent or trade personal information, we don't show ads, and we don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

6Services we use

A few companies help us run the site. They handle data only to provide their service to us:

  • Vercel hosts the site and stores uploaded logos and photos.
  • Neon hosts the database.
  • Resend sends our emails.
  • OpenStreetMap provides the map. Your browser loads map images from its servers, which can see your IP address. When your team searches for a place, we send that place name (not who you are) to its search service.
  • FIRST's FTC Events API receives team numbers to verify them.

7Cookies

We only use cookies to keep you signed in, and your browser remembers whether you chose light or dark mode. That's all: no analytics or advertising cookies.

8Students under 18

  • You must be 13 or older to sign up. If you're under 18, you need a parent's or guardian's OK.
  • We don't knowingly keep accounts of children under 13. If we learn of one, we delete it.
  • Parents and guardians can email ftcnetwork.official@gmail.com to see, correct or delete their child's information. We'll check it's really you first.
  • Never put a student's phone number, home address or personal social accounts on a public profile or post.

9Deleting your account and data

Email ftcnetwork.official@gmail.com from the address you signed up with and ask us to delete your account. We'll confirm within 30 days. Deleting your account removes your name, email, password and sign-in sessions.

  • Posts and messages belong to your team, so they stay with the team, without your name. To remove posts, delete them first or ask us.
  • Team owners: hand ownership to a teammate first, or ask us to delete the whole team (profile, logo, posts, messages and meetings).
  • Reports may be kept as a safety record. Copies in our hosting provider's backups expire automatically.

10How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account or team is active. Sign-in sessions expire after 30 days without use. Anti-spam counters (keyed by IP address or email) only count for up to a day.

11Keeping it safe

The site only runs over HTTPS, passwords are hashed, sign-in and messaging are rate-limited, admin powers are split into separate permissions, and every admin action is logged. No system is perfect: if you find a problem, please tell us at ftcnetwork.official@gmail.com.

12Your choices and rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Most of it you can change yourself in your team settings. Depending on where you live you may also be able to complain to your local data protection authority.

13Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For important changes we'll show a notice on the site first. See also our Terms of Use.
